It’s that time that diamond rings are making their appearance! The holidays can be pretty romantic and they ensure that there are lots of family members around to celebrate, so it’s no wonder that most couples are getting engaged this time of year. Here are some tips for you if you’re planning on getting down on one knee in the next few weeks.
1) Hide that ring somewhere safe! It can be hard to hide gifts for partners, especially if you’re living with them. It can be a good idea to stash the ring at a family member or friend’s house until you’re ready for it.
2) Decide when and where it will take place. Are you going to propose in a sentimental place you’ve been many times, or somewhere spectacular and new? Will you have a crowd of people to work around or will you be somewhere private? Do you want either of your families involved? These are all good things to consider. Also, if you two have been dreaming of a summer wedding, it’s a good idea to propose early enough so you have enough time to book your dream vendors!
3) Figure out if you need co-conspirators or not. It can be helpful to have people who know your proposal plan so they can help execute it. For example, this can be a friend who helps you get your partner to the location you’re proposing, or it can be a photographer who is going to capture the event and help you plan the logistics! Funnily enough, when my husband proposed to me, I unknowingly tried to derail things by not wanting to go out at the particular time and basically asking too many questions! I straight up didn’t want to make the long drive since it was getting late. (Turns out Mitch was running late due to buying flowers and a cute little picnic spread. Whoops haha.) If my sister and friend weren’t involved, who knows how it would have happened!
4) What about the photographer? Do you plan on hiring one to capture the moment? If so, will they be hiding behind the scenes, waiting for it to happen? Do you want to disguise your proposal as a regular couples session in order to make sure your partner is dressed and ready for a photo session right after? This is an important decision to make, since a lot of the planning weighs on this part. I’m obviously partial to the idea of having a photographer on hand to capture this moment, but everyone’s situation is different. Just know that whatever you decide, the fact that you’re trying to make it special, automatically MAKES it special. Best of luck with your proposal planning!

Take a look through this heartfelt, romantic proposal of Mineidy & Dion’s for some inspiration!
Mineidy and Dion met around 6 years ago through a friend, but due to some shyness, they didn't really connect until they hung out at a party a few years later. These two positively glow around each other, and they have the sweetest love. If you don't believe me, ask the florist in Parker who knows Dion on a first name basis. Their proposal is one for the books as well. Dion planned it on their anniversary, in a gazebo decorated with twinkle lights and rose petals in Castlewood Canyon. Their families were hiding and watching from afar.
Dion's words: "We sat down and I played her a song I wrote inspired by her and all of her beauty. The song at the end asked her to marry me, and she wanted to answer as soon as it was over! Then I got on one knee, heart racing with the slight breeze hitting both of us, took out the ring which I was holding onto dear life for because I didn't want it to fall, then asked, 'Mineidy, will you marry me?' She said yes, and we had one of the best days of our lives, with much more to come. Mineidy, I love you. This is the beginning of forever."
